Parent Consultation & Education Advocacy
Our Executive Clinical Director, Jessica Pippin, LCPC often works alongside parents to navigate the complexities of parenting, diagnoses, school, therapy, and other potential needs. Starting with identifying concerns and struggles, Jessica helps parents to develop a plan to increase positive changes for their child and family. On a personal level, Jessica also brings with her the experience of living with and loving a quirky child of her own.
Parent consultation can be done as a stand-alone service or can be done in conjunction with individual therapy services with any of our providers. Including parents in the process increases child and adolescent success and can often impact all areas of their lives. The child, parents, school, primary care providers, and psychologists can all work together. Often this is an overwhelming process, but Jessica can help prioritize services based on the biggest challenges and prepare you for meetings and appointments.
Examples of consultation services available to you include:
Sort through your child or adolescent’s psychological evaluation with you to identify what you need to know, as well as what to look out for and be aware of moving forward. In addition, you may need to advise school officials about and prepare yourself for conversations with prescribers.
Having someone prepare you for 504 meetings so you walk into those empowered and educated for your child’s best interest.
Having a neutral person to review your child’s treatment plans, diagnoses, and medication regime and help you evaluate what has worked as well as what hasn’t.
Assist you in deciding what course of therapeutic action to take that will give you peace of mind.
Guide you in making educated decisions regarding medication that come from an advocacy standpoint.
Figuring out the appropriate diagnosis for their child or adolescent.
Sorting through which type of therapist or provider is the appropriate referral for their child or adolescent.
Teasing out appropriate interventions for their child or adolescent or even the family unit as a whole.
Navigating solid communication with school or other academic entities in your child or adolescent’s life.
Facilitating effective communication between medical providers and other providers.
Adjusting behavior modification systems and discipline for best results.
Because of the time commitment, parent consultation meetings are not billable to insurance. This service is available in person or via telehealth and can be done with anyone that is a primary caregiver to a child or adolescent.
